It’s being called the UK’s answer to the Met Gala, and the Vogue World event, which took place tonight in London, did not disappoint.
Held in the Theatre Royal Drury Lane in London’s West End and presided over by Vogue Editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour, the event is a theatrical performance that is held to raise funds for Britain’s performing arts scene. The net proceeds will go to National Theatre, Royal Opera House and the Royal Ballet, among others.

The first event of its kind took place last year in New York City’s iconic meatpacking district, with a more relaxed fashion show and vibrant street food fair, which sought to capture the essence of the dynamic city itself.
With this in mind, the British iteration of the show evoked what makes London stand out in the fashion world. Stars walked the red carpet in extravagant designs, with many British designers like Vivienne Westwood and Victoria Beckham represented.
The event heralded the start of London Fashion Week, which kicks off on Friday, with a runway show featuring 16Arlington, Burberry and Vivienne Westwood among others.
The dress code for the evening was “Opening Night”, and the stars rose to the occasion with aplomb. Kate Moss, Adwoa Aboah, Kate Winslet and Stormzy were among the famous faces walking the red carpet.
Our own Nicola Coughlan made a grand entrance wearing a dramatic black velvet off the shoulder gown by Harris Reed with satin detailing on the bust and an oversized circular black and gold head piece.
Activist Sinead Burke also walked the red carpet on the night, wearing a stunning peach coloured gown with corset detailing on the bodice and ruffles along the bust.
