Rockchapel Parents’ Association’s Fashion Show kicked off the north Cork fashion show circuit on Friday night, with Knocknagree, Kilbrin and Meelin shows all to look forward to in the coming weeks.

Style conscious women of all ages arrived en masse to Rockchapel Community Centre to discover what is trending for the seasons ahead and to cheer on the team of local ladies and lads who took on the role of models for the night.

The retailers who supplied clothing for the show included O’Shea’s Fashions, Newmarket, Nóirín’s Boutique, Millstreet, Lady Lydia, Kanturk, Dudes & Diva’s, Castleisland, Avenue 73, Ballybunion and Castleisland, Heavenly Gifts, Abbeyfeale and Minx & Wild Pair Shoes, Charleville. Catherine O’Donnell was MC while Jeremiah Roche looked after the music.

Noreen Deploy, Chair of the Parents’ Association, said that over several years, the annual fashion show has benefited the local national school. “Last year, we purchased iPads for the children and funded a ‘party day’ at the end of the school year. Proceeds from tonight’s show will go towards purchasing basketball hoops and goal posts for the football pitch. If there is any money left over, we’ll see what else we can do”

Noreen continued: “We had a fantastic turn out, as soon as I put the notice on social media, people were contacting me for tickets. I want to say a huge thanks to all the parents’ association members, to Mary McBride and Mag Shine who worked so hard to organise everything, to Seán Allen and PJ Murphy who erected the Catwalk and to everybody who came and supported us.”

Meanwhile, fashion fans can put the following dates in their diaries. There will be a Night of Glitz and Glamour in Kilbrin Social Club for the Alzheimer Society and Suicide Awareness on Friday, October 20.

Knocknagree Community Development Group will host their fashion show in Rathmore Community Centre on Thursday, October 26. Meanwhile, on Friday, November 3, Meelin Community Centre is the venue for ‘A Night of Fashion’.
