JJK’s Megumi Fushiguro Is the Cover Boy of a Big Women’s Fashion Magazine

Jujutsu Kaisen character Megumi Fushiguro has made the cover of one of Japan’s most prominent and historied women’s lifestyle magazines.

Japanese magazine An An made waves this week as the popular Megumi made the cover for the first time. In a post to X (formerly Twitter), a special new illustration was revealed, featuring Megumi’s summoning position as he invokes Mahoraga, his shikigami (monster servant). An An is released every Wednesday, with Megumi featured in the special edition set to be physically released on Feb. 7, 2024. The cover can be seen below, to the amusement of many Jujutsu Kaisen fans.

Megumi’s Mahoraga-Summoning Pose in JJK Has Become a Meme Unto Itself

Megumi’s pose was naturally hilarious to many, given what it represents. Summoning Mahoraga poses a serious threat since the monster can and will attack whoever performs the technique. Megumi has since become a viral meme as, despite this threat to himself, many fans joke that he’s constantly trying to get himself killed. While many view this as a weakness, Megumi’s self-sacrificing nature is featured in CBR’s Jujutsu Kaisen: Megumi’s 5 Greatest Strengths.

Megumi Fushiguro tries to summon Mahoraga in Jujutsu Kaisen

An An‘s Megumi cover follows fellow Jujutsu Kaisen character Satoru Gojo in August 2023. The magazine has also been headlined by Atom from Netflix’s popular anime Pluto and Spy x Family in 2022. Spy x Family broke new ground recently when it featured in the popular women’s fashion magazine Non-No, as did Jujutsu Kaisen when it was the face of two of the world’s largest newspapers — the Asahi Shimbun and Yomiuri Shimbun — earlier this month. An An is one of Japan’s oldest and most popular magazines, debuting in 1970.

While An An‘s magazine will make great reading for those looking to learn more about Megumi, little compares to the anime for many fans, which currently streams on Crunchyroll. The streaming platform describes the series: “Yuji Itadori is a boy with tremendous physical strength, though he lives a completely ordinary high school life. One day, to save a classmate who has been attacked by curses, he eats the finger of Ryomen Sukuna, taking the curse into his own soul. From then on, he shares one body with Ryomen Sukuna. Guided by the most powerful of sorcerers, Satoru Gojo, Itadori is admitted to Tokyo Jujutsu High School, an organization that fights the curses… and thus begins the heroic tale of a boy who became a curse to exorcise a curse, a life from which he could never turn back.”
